Now that Padmaavat has been cleared by the Censor Board of Film Certification with a few cuts and a name change and even the Supreme Court has ordered all the states to lift the ban on the film, support is pouring in from all quarters for the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film. After the makers of Pad Man pushed ahead the release of their film to February 9, it seems like the whole industry is now out to support this magnum opus. And not just Bollywood, even the TV industry has extended support to the film.
The Indian Films & Television Director’s Association (IFTDA) have issued a press release, applauding the SC’s move of clearing the film. They have also made an appeal to the protestors to respect the decision of the recognised authorities and not cause further harm to the film and all those involved. Additionally, they have requested the exhibitors to run the film in their theatres as per the court’s directive and the letter also asks the regulatory authorities to ensure that required security measures are taken. Lastly, they have expressed their concern over those involved too. Check out the press release right here…
This move comes as a gesture to show solidarity towards the film. And indeed the film deserves all the support it can garner considering that its release strategy and promotional plans were hampered due to the protest and even the release was delayed considerably. Considering that the film was made on a high budget, it is imperative that the makers and those involved recover their investment and also, a film made with passion, gets its audience.
